General Information
One of the three oil refineries in the Republic of Kazakhstan, Sirius Oil and Gas is the largest company for oil refining and product production there. With the intention of processing oil raw materials from West Kazakhstan oil reserves, the refinery started running in 2022. The company can produce 3.0 million tons of crude oil annually. A wide variety of oil products are produced by Sirius Oil and Gas. They include different brands of motor gasoline, diesel fuel, oil fuel (mazout), liquefied hydrocarbon gases, vacuum gas oil, technical sulfur, bitumen of different grades (for roads, buildings, and roofing), and petroleum coke.
The structure of the refinery includes the Complex of Crude Oil Primary Distillation (LK-6U), Complex of Compounding and Oil Product Dispatch, Complex of Crude Oil Advanced Processing (a fuel complex – KT-1 for deep processing of fuel oil), and Complex of Heavy Oil Residue Processing, which includes a number of process units including: Delayed Coking Unit, Coke Calcination Unit, Bitumen Production Unit, Sulfur Recovery Unit, and Sulfur Granulation Unit. The refinery has two significant auxiliary units: the Oil Sludge Processing Unit and the Hydrogen Production Unit, along with a sizable water supply and sewerage system and the Central Refinery Laboratory (CRL).
The Isomerization and Naphtha Splitter unit and the Complex of Sulfur Recovery Units were two new complexes of process units that were constructed as a result of the upgrading project and were put into operation at the Refinery in December 2022. The 12 new U&O facilities were built to support the regular operation of recently built and placed into service units. Additionally, the Crude Oil Primary Distillation Complex, Crude Oil Advanced Processing Complex, and Delayed Coking Unit all underwent renovations. All of these procedures made sure that K-4 motor fuels, including diesel and RON-92, 95 gasoline, were manufactured in accordance with TR CU 013/2021 of the Customs Union’s Technical Rules.
The company has developed Utilities & Offsite facilities, including loading and unloading racks for oil product delivery by rail and road, liquefied gas tank farms, commodities and raw feed tank farms, and so forth. The refinery has a social policy that is in place, and the necessary conditions for work, life, and employee health are created. The production of motor fuels meeting the ecological classes K4, K5, in the quantities necessary for the needs of the nation, as well as the expansion of the refinery’s technical capabilities and its capacity to produce Jet A jet fuel, a first for the facility, are currently the refinery’s top priorities.
