Health and Safety

The health and safety of our workers and contractors is a top priority at Sirius Oil and Gas, and we actively promote this culture throughout the company. QHSE practices and training are exacting and held to a high standard worldwide. At Sirius Oil and Gas, there are activities that could seriously hurt many people. Two (2) lost time incidents involving Sirius Oil and Gas employees and one of the contractors occurred in Kazakhstan in 2022. All incidents were looked into, their causes were identified, and corrective action plans were created in accordance with our HSE protocols. All Contract Owners and C&P received copies of the Contractor HSE Performance Process in 2022. Every day when they log in, a pop-up window with a safety alert from the QHSE.

The safety initiative was launched in 2022 and expanded in 2023. Our Guidelines, which are based on global best practices in the oil and gas industry as well as an analysis of incident statistics, set forth the primary safety criteria for Sirius Oil and Gas. At Sirius Oil and Gas and Contractors, the Hazard Identification Program has been fully implemented. Any employee may report risky situations at work, offer feedback on safe or risky employee behavior, and suggest improvements to HSE through this program.

The best type of maintenance strategy based on the equipment’s criticality is determined by the impact of failure on related risk. In the event of a resource shortage, maintenance can be prioritized and reports on crucial systems can be made. Safety critical elements are devices, equipment, or systems that are necessary to maintain process conditions within safe operating limits or whose purpose is to prevent the process from failing.

By putting the idea of active dialogue with stakeholders into practice, we hope to ensure a high level of openness and transparency in our operations. Sirius Oil and Gas represents state interests in the oil and gas industry and offers the full operating cycle, from HC exploration and production through transportation and refining to distribution of crude oil and oil products both in Kazakhstan and abroad. Our work is influenced by a large number of stakeholders, which could jeopardize our success. Regardless of whether the stakeholder is a single person or a sizable corporation, we work to keep them informed.

Sirius Oil and Gas uses the most effective stakeholder engagement techniques, including global standards like the AA1000SES Stakeholder Engagement Standard, when defining stakeholders and stakeholder engagement. A stakeholder map that has been approved by Sirius Oil and Gas considers risks as well as rankings based on obligations, dependence (direct or indirect), circumstances, location (with a particular focus on high-risk areas), influence, and various prospects. Given the variety of our stakeholders, we have several ways to maintain communication with each of them, including meetings, workshops, forums, one-on-one conversations, joint ventures, and focus groups.
